Laser Tag Near Thetford

Thetford has laser games, just not indoors. Combat Paintball runs outdoor laser tag in Thetford Forest, off the A11 at Roudham, for groups of 8 to 12. If you want an arena with a roof on it, the nearest is ours: Planet Laser in Bury St Edmunds, about 12 miles down the A134.

The arena covers 6,000 square feet over four levels, and you play in Laserforce battlesuits with up to 40 players a session. The same building has a retro arcade, mini bowling and Café Lunar.

FOREST OR ARENA?

Both are good, and they suit different plans. The forest games are outdoors, run as two-hour sessions and need a group to book. Ours are 15-minute games, so you can book one or three, come as two people or a party of 40, and nobody gets rained on.

We’re biased, obviously. But they also work together: a morning at High Lodge, then laser tag in the afternoon, or on the day the forest plan gets washed out.

GETTING HERE FROM THETFORD

We’re on Western Way, Bury St Edmunds, IP33 3SP. From Thetford, take the A134 south through Barnham and Fornham into Bury. It’s about 12 miles and usually takes 20 to 25 minutes.

There’s no direct train between Thetford and Bury, so driving is the easy option. Parking catches a few people out on their first visit, so we wrote a short parking and directions guide.

We’ve written similar guides for visitors from Newmarket (A14, about 20 minutes), Stowmarket (A14 or a direct train, about 20 minutes) and Sudbury (A134, about 30 minutes).

One 15-minute mission gives you the full Planet Laser experience without committing to a longer session. Gear up, enter the arena and see whether you’ve got what it takes to come out on top.

Family session

Go to war with the family. And no, we don’t mean arguing over whose turn it is to do the washing up.

Team up, take each other on and make some proper family memories in the laser tag arena. Parents versus kids? Everyone for themselves? That bit’s up to you.

You’ll all get moving, burn off some energy and have so much fun you won’t even notice you’re exercising. Shhh… we won’t tell the kids.

NORFOLK SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

Thetford schools follow Norfolk term dates, and they don’t always line up with Suffolk’s. During school holidays we run two-hour laser tag sessions at £18 per person, with a maximum of two groups in the arena, and our opening times change.

Check the timetable for the week you’re planning before you set off.

BIRTHDAY PARTIES FOR Thetford FAMILIES

Kids’ parties start at £19 per child for two games, a reserved party zone, hot party food and unlimited squash, with a minimum of 10 guests.

Three games is £22.50 per child. For the arena to yourselves, exclusive parties start at £21.50 per child for 21 or more. Everything’s on the Kids Birthday Parties page.

adults & groups from Thetford

Adults can book any session we run, no children required. Work dos, birthdays and nights out with mates all fit, and bigger groups can hire the whole arena. The Adult Laser Tag page has the options.
